Data Interoperability for In-Situ Oceanographic Datasets

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
This session will present several examples of data management best practices that can contribute to data interoperability in a real world context. Efforts by data centers within the oceanographic community will be explored and discussed, presented by and from the perspective of representatives from these data centers. The examples will come from in-situ oceanographic datasets, but domain specific concerns as well as universal data management concerns will be considered and compared, making this session appropriate for those outside this domain who are interested in the practical application of data interoperability principles.

  • Interoperability standards are critical, an enabler not a hindrance
  • Also need extensions
  • *standards alone don’t suffice
    • Need tools
    • Outreach so the community understands the value
